Green synthesized spinel lithium titanate nano anode material using Aloe Vera extract for potential application to lithium ion batteries
Abstract
The lithium titanate (LTO) nanoparticles have been prepared by a chemical and green synthesis method and characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, FTIR, Raman, CV and EIS analysis. The XRD result ensured that the LTO exhibits a cubic spinel structure with the space group of Fd3m. The surface morphology of the prepared anode materials has been studied by FE-SEM and TEM analysis. The LTO nano anode material prepared by the green synthesis (GSLTO) method exhibited better electrochemical cycling stability when compared to the LTO prepared by the chemical (LTO) method. The calculated specific capacitances of 107 F g-1 and 91 F g-1 for LTO and GSLTO samples at a scan rate of 5 mV/s. Based on the obtained results, the green synthesized LTO nano material is suitable as an alternative anode for the lithium ion batteries.
