A letter in the Zenon archive (P.Cair.Zen. 59034 of 257 B.C.) urging the dioiketes Apollonius to help build a shrine of Sarapis concerns Memphis in Egypt, not a city overseas, and can be seen as an effort to give the Greeks of Memphis a cult place independent of the great Sarapeum outside of the city.
