It is analyzed open letters in the context of «Letter to Ruler», presented by two invariants – «Letter to Tsar» and «Letter to Chief» on the basis of our earlier research on the material of Russian literature of the XIX – XX centuries. The definition of an open letter is given, brief analysis of specific factual material is presented. Open letters to the Lord belong to this genre subtypes as a letter-declaration (letter by A.I.Herzen, N.G.Chernyshevsky, A.I.Solzhenitsyn), letter-invective (letters by M.K.Tsebrikova, V.G.Korolenko, F.F.Raskolnikov), letter-pamphlet (letter by A.T.Averchenko, V.V.Mayakovsky).
