Abstract

Contemporary journalistic discourse: between secretiveness and the production of differences — Nowadays, the issue of the representation of differences is a relevant one, in view not only of the technological advances that favor and enhance the production of mediatic discourses but also the notion of a libidinal power installed in globalized societies. From this perspective, this essay discusses the production of journalistic discourses, aiming to encourage reflections of a cultural nature. Aware of the polarization and pulverization of discourses today, we follow along with Foucault and, in the light of Flusser’s reasoning about technical images and their indicative information, we suggest that, from the standpoint of journalistic discourse, it is essential to understand the ways in which news is presented.
