Literature and mythology: an experience in distance education media

This article summarizes an experience taught in an extension course at the Federal University of Pelotas (UFPEL) in the year 2012, through the online Moodle tool, whose characteristic is to be free software and, therefore, is a platform widely used in universities as a multimedia medium for distance learning. The subject of this online course, object of discussion in this work, studied the myths, the mythologies as a set of myths and their relations with the literary phenomenon. Thus, the objective of this work is to present aspects that surround this teaching experience, within the perspective of an extension course, in order to complement the studies of the cultural part of the curriculum of the academic of Letters, as well as other interested ones of the university community that wanted to participate. The theoretical basis was based on scholars of the mythologies, the main ones are Mircea Eliade, Jack Goody and Joseph Campbell and in the mythological narratives of the diverse cultures approached. The methodology applied was completely online, with the various instruments of the AVA (Virtual Learning Environment). The results obtained were satisfactory, as far as the extension of the range of cultural studies for the participants, understood as the literary texts that cover a multifaceted view of each culture, surrounded by the vision of the diverse myths and their expressions codified in the different literary genres.
