At the present stage, issues related to competencies, the transformation of vocational education, professional standards and the preparation of the younger generation for the future are being discussed in the framework of a multitude of discussion areas on education. The need to establish a close relationship between the labor market and vocational education is now becoming a problem in urgent need of theoretical reflection. Researches of the last ten years show convincingly that not only professional competencies, but also additional knowledge and skills, which often are not taught in universities: creativity, responsibility, courtesy and many others are of value not only for employers. These competencies are called soft skills. Every year the role of soft skills in the process of professional development of employees and the development of the company increases, which is noted not only by researchers, but also by the leaders of large companies. The purpose of this article is to study the components of soft skills, finding the relationship between soft skills and emotional intelligence, as well as the impact of the development of these skills on the development of modern education. In modern organizations it is important that the leader be emotionally competent: he could manage his own emotions, recognize the emotions of others and on this basis build interaction, create the basis of a positive emotional atmosphere, be able to extract information from emotional signals of employees, use emotional energy, create the necessary corporate culture, generating in the staff a condition that ensures effective activity.
