Reflections about the myth of sustainable development and economic solidarity as a capitalist challenging context in which the formal transnational policies rationality prevails and overlaps the scope of vision of institutional actors or political subjects responsible for the management of the considered cities. Among the workers ́ initiatives they aimed at the creation of new jobs in the market place, employment and income, which build solidarity networks towards the restructuring of production processes and regional development in the Brazilian Maranhão State. Considering the challenge of the rural worker ́s participation in the democratic management and in economical investments, these struggles are distinguished by specific characteristics, without any connection with a collective project and with the multiple aspects involving hegemonic domination in economic issues.
