Stereoselective synthesis of carbohydrate-based fused bicyclic d-lactones

Abstract

We describe in the present work the synthesis of carbohydrate-based chiral delta-lactones by regio- and stereoselective radical cyclization reactions. The configuration of the newly stereogenic center was found to depend on the structure of the carbohydrate moiety.
