Les dépotoirs de céramiques de Thelepte : productions locales et productions régionales
Abstract
The archaeological site of Thelepte, also known today as El-Medina-el-Kedima (the old city), is located about 30 km southwest of Kasserine (Cillium) and about 80 km northwest of Gafsa (Capsa). The vestiges of this Roman military colony, founded during the Flavian period, are spread over an area of more than 94 ha and contain, among other things, ceramic dumps – scattered across the site, but in particular in its northern part. Understanding of these dumps is very delicate, due to the great heterogeneity of the material and the nature of the site, which was both producer and importer of ceramics. In this first work, our efforts focused on endogenous (local and regional) production in order to identify its technical and formal characteristics and to try to determine their origin.
