Abstract The Spanish flu was a global health crisis of enormous extent and consequences. This disease hit Saxony at a time of social, economic and political challenges. What is its significance in the context of the political unrest and the extreme social deficiencies after the Wold War? Did the flu sound the death knell of the monarchy?
