Gabdulla Tukai. Encyclopedia (Kazan, 2016) is the first personal writer’s encyclopedia in the Tatar language. The encyclopedic articles and references in the book depict various sides of the Tatar literature classic, Gabdulla Tukai’s life and creativity (1886–1913). As the nine-year-old orphan Gabdulla was brought to Uralsk in 1995, lived there for 12 years, grew up and became a famous poetm publicist, journalist, satirit, and public figure there, almost a half of the encyclopedia articles analyze his Uralsk period of life and creativity: written works (poems, articles, feuilletons, etc.); relationships with his relatives, also with K. Mutygi, M. Toukhvatullin, and G. Amrulla; his work in editorial offices of Tatar newspapers and magazines of the city of Uralsk during the years of 1905–1907 revolutionary events. It is emphasized in the article that the authors made an attempt to evaluate the events and personal relations factually and objectively. The book under consideration takes into account all the recent developments in Tukai studies.
