Abstract

The essay focuses on the historical and literary figure of the Parmesan Asdente, who appears briefly in Inferno XX: the analysis is carried out both in Dante’s text and in the only other historical source that speaks of Asdente, namely the Latin Chronicle of the Franciscan (and parmesan) Salimbene de Adam.
