Non-metallic structural and functional materials are an indispensable part of airborne missiles and launchers to achieve insulation, wave /light transmittance, sealing, heat protection, weight reduction, friction reduction, metal corrosion protection and other functions. Deterioration, aging and failure of the non-metallic materials in marine environmental caused many faults. Analysis and research of their seaworthiness are related to operation, maintenance support, combat readiness deployment and combat effectiveness of the missiles and launchers. In this paper, hundreds of the non-metallic materials with different appearance, shapes and properties of the missiles and launchers are classified. Among them, the coating, sealing, adhesive, heat protection, lubrication, rust prevention and other materials mainly affected by the marine environment are comprehensively analyzed based on their service characteristics, and seaworthiness experimental studies reported in literatures are carried out. Suggestions on optimizing of material selection and design, manufacturing and quality control, improving maintenance support, test and verification of the non-metallic materials are put forward.
