El Carmen de Bolívar: el sino de un pueblo a través de la mirada de una de sus hijas

Abstract

Este artículo combina un relato de vida con informes elaborados por los organismos oficiales encargados de reconstruir la memoria histórica de los últimos decenios del municipio de El Carmen de Bolívar. Este municipio, escenario del auge y caída de la producción tabacalera y del establecimiento de casas comerciales por parte de inmigrantes arribados en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX, fue reconstruido en los inicios del siglo XXI, luego de un proceso de violencia en los años sesenta, y de un éxodo de sus habitantes en los noventa causado por el enfrentamiento entre actores armados. This town, the place of the rise and fall of tobacco production and the establishment of trading houses by immigrants who arrived at the second half of the nineteenth century, was rebuilt in the early twenty-first century, after a process of violence in years sixty, and an exodus of its inhabitants in the nineties caused by the confrontation between armed players.
