Kidney cancer is one of the most common diseases in oncourology. In the structure of the kidney tumors, renal cell carcinoma prevails, being the 10th most frequent disease among malignant tumors worldwide and amounting to 23% of their total number, which naturally draws attention of the scientists to this problem. Aim. To study the incidence of kidney cancer in Lviv region and Ukraine during the period from 2005 to 2015. Material and Methods. The retrospective analysis of rates of morbidity and pathologic verification of kidney cancer among the population of Lviv region and Ukraine during the period from 2005 to 2015, based on official statistical data from the National Cancer Registry of Ukraine. The statistical analysis of the data included: dynamic rows analysis (calculation of absolute increase, growth rate and rate of increase); analysis of relative and average values. Results and Discussion. The incidence of malignant tumors of the kidney in population of Lviv region and Ukraine during the discussed period shows a steady increase. Changes in morbidity in kidney cancer among the population were characterized by the periods of rise and fall. Among the population of Lviv region, this pathology is more common in males than in females. The same trend is observed among patients with kidney cancer in Ukraine in general. The morbidity level among the male population of Lviv region is characterized by stable growth (close to step-like) with the decrease periods in 2006, 2009, 2011, 2013, and 2014. On the other hand, the morbidity rate among the female population of Lviv region was sinuous. There is a general increase in the proportion of morphologically verified diagnosis of malignant tumors of the kidney among the population of Lviv region during the study period, and it is higher than in Ukraine in general. Conclusions. The incidence of malignant tumors of the kidney among the population of Lviv region during the study period shows a steady increase (+4.1 cases), and is higher than in Ukraine in general. The increased morbidity rate can be explained by increased specialists' alertness, as well as improved material resources of specialized institutions, and follows the worldwide trend of this index. In men, kidney cancer is more common than in females, both in Lviv region and across Ukraine in general. The overall growth of verified pathological diagnosis rate of the kidney malignant tumors among the population of Lviv region during the study period (+3.3%) was noted.
