An original method for the characterization of wine-producing area was tested in the Moyenne Vallee de la Loire. It is based upon the idea of a sequence which integrates the totality of the natural factors (geological, pedological and climatic). About twenty experimental parcels have been controled continuously for four years in agronomical, phytochemical and technological respects. The first phase of this test, essentially descriptive, permits due to sensorial analysis, a characterization of wines issued from different sequences.
