Jaime Ros (1950-2019), retomando las propuestas de los pioneros del desarrollo

Abstract

In this essay, it is talked about the academic trajectory of Mexican economist Jaime Ros and his main contributions to development and growth theories. For this purpose, it is reviewed his explanation of the debt crisis in the 1980s and the stabilization measures that he proposed, the relationship between specialization patterns and long-term growth, the extension of the concepts, and approaches of the pioneers of development and their combination with the growth models, as well as his discrepancies with the monetarists and the new institutional economics, among other issues.
