About the Dwelling of the Golden Horde Mahalla No. 3 in Mizdahkan

Abstract

The article deals with the quarter (mahalla) territory of the Mizdakhkan archaeological assemblage - a medieval monument,t located in the Xojeli district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. As a result of archaeological excavations on the territory of the mahalla, more than 25 houses were recorded, houses from one to eleven rooms were identified. According to the location of the population of the 3rd quarter (mahalla) and its topographic structure during the Golden Horde period, in the quarter lived from one to five families connected by kinship ties. As a result of the study of finds, discovered during archaeological excavations by archaeologists of Karakalpak State University, the professions of people living in the mahalla, size of workshops, culinary shops, trading stores and residential buildings of the mahalla were established. The interior and the formation processes of a quarter (mahalla), building materials, dwelling houses, bricks and walls have been studied. The opinions of medieval authors about the mahalla and the explanation of the term "mahalla" are also given.
