Effect of mindfulness decompression combined with music therapy on negative emotion, sleep quality and quality of life in patients in cabin hospitals
Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of mindfulness-based decompression combined with music therapy on negative emotions, sleep quality and quality of life of patients in cabin hospital. Methods A total of 180 patients with infection of COVID-19 Omicron variant admitted to Jilin Cabin Hospital from April 1 to 10, 2022 were recruited as the research objects. They were randomly divided into control group and observation group, 90 cases in each group. The observation group was set into Ward A and received routine nursing management, and the control group was set into Ward B and received mindfulness decompression combined with music therapy on the basis of routine nursing care. After 10 days'intervention, the results of their negative emotions [Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS)], sleep quality [Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI)], quality of life [the MOS 36 item short form health survey (SF-36)] and nursing satisfaction were compared between the 2 groups. Results After intervention, the SAS (44.27±4.37 vs 49.52±4.83) and SDS scores (43.91±4.32 vs 48.34±4.78), and the score of each dimension and total score (5.72±1.04 vs 7.89±1.21) of PSQI were significantly lower in the observation group than the control group (all P < 0.05). The observation group had obviously higher score of each dimension and total score of SF-36, and increased total nursing satisfaction (95.56 % vs 86.67%) when compared with the control group (P < 0.05). Conclusion Mindfulness decompression combined with music therapy is a better psychological intervention method, with the advantages of improving negative emotions, sleep quality and quality of life in Covid-19 patients in the hospital.
