Assessment of eating habits and physical activity among Polish and Spanish students in context of preventing of civilization diseases

Abstract Students are particularly exposed to irregularities in pro-health behaviours. The main purpose of this paper was the analysis of eating habits of students of the University of Physical Education in Warsaw, Branch in Biala Podlaska and the Complutense University of Madrid and the characteristic of their leisure time physical activity. Material and methods The research was conducted by means of a diagnostic survey with the use of a proprietary questionnaire, among 200 people. Results The negative aspect of the diet among both groups is low consumption of vegetables and fruits and reaching for energy drinks and ready-to-eat products. It has been observed that the Spanish students make less eating mistakes - their diet is richer by fish, legume dishes and fermented milk products. The significant majority of the respondents exercise on the regular basis Conclusions There is a need to intensification of health education among the surveyed students.
