Orașul Bălți în lumina călătoriei regale din anul 1920
Abstract
The article aims at capturing the atmosphere of the city of Bălți during the royal visit in May 1920. In order to restore the setting, we use a series of edifying testimonies from the interwar period, meant to provide a nuanced image, both on the way the royal family was greeted and the projections of the city, with streets, parks, schools, churches, hospitals it had at that time. We insist on the organization of the welcoming ceremony of the royal family and the places they visited in Bălți. The personalities of Bălți city are spotlighted, who welcomed the royal visit during the official ceremony, everything being consumed in an atmosphere of unprecedented enthusiasm. Corroborating the impressions of publicists and historians of the time with the notes and speeches of the royal family has resulted in a multi-perspective play of common impressions, focused on a genuine communion of ideas and solidarity.
