The problem of practice-oriented assessment of speech skills in children of primary school age with autism spectrum disorder is considered. The main drawback of the standard methods of such an assessment is fixed: the focus is on determining the level of mastery of these skills by the child relative to the age norm, i.e. compared to typically developing children. This approach does not allow taking into account the individual characteristics of the profile of the child’s speech activity and the stages of its development. The possibilities of the VB-MAPP methodology, developed by M. Sandberg, are presented for building an individual program for the correction of a child with ASD, based on the stages of formation of operants of speech behavior. The results of a study conducted using this technique in the Special (correctional) school No. 148 (Novosibirsk), in which children aged 8 to 10 years old, studying according to the adapted basic educational program of the RAS (option 8.3), took part.
