Coaching: A tool to promote success in the subject Research Methodology and Statistics

Coaching is a personal development tool based on accompaniment. Within the teaching-learning process, its objectives combine the educational scenario. Aim: to evaluate coaching as a tool to promote learning in the subject of Research Methodology and Statistics Method: an intervention study was carried out at the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Manzanillo. Coaching was applied as a tool to directly influence the teaching performance of the first-year student of the Stomatology career with low academic performance in the subject Research Methodology and Statistics. The study period covered the academic year 2019-2020. Results: the 97% of students with low academic performance in the subject Research Methodology and Statistics, managed to improve their academic performance with grades between 4 and 5 points; while 3% did so from low to regular. Conclusions: Coaching is a training process with favourable results. Most of the students with low academic performance in the subject Research Methodology and Statistics managed to improve their academic performance in the final exam after the application of the coaching tool.
