The analysis of “popular culture,” as inspired by the proposal of the archaeology of knowledge, allows us to exercise epistemological reflexivity on the formation of the Social Sciences in Brazil. In this process, conceived as a “historical-structural” one, we can identify three perspectives from which popular culture has been considered by the Social Sciences: the sociology of folklore, the ideology of popular culture, and the anthropology of patrimony.
