In the present study the effect of under ice warming is analyzed on the basis of observed data from the Karelian Isthmus and lakes of Karelia. A simple 1D parameterized mathematical model of the phenomenon was developed. The heat fluxes in the “ice – water column – sediments” system were quantified.
