Criticizing politicians in Ancient Comedy

Abstract

Old Comedy brought into focus all aspects of life in Athens, with an infinitefreedom of speech. One of its main targets were the politicians who ruled thedestinies of the polis, criticized mercilessly for their public activities, but also fortheir physical and moral characteristics.
