Evaluation of yield performance of some registered and landraces chickpea varieties in the Western Mediterranean Region
Abstract
The chickpea is an important field crop for low quality fields and drought enduring in the West Mediterranean Region as a large area. This experiment was conducted in order to determine the adaptation and yield potential and some agronomical characteristics of 18 chickpea varieties and 3 local landraces. The experiments were carried out in two locations in Antalya province Korkuteli-Ulucak and Aksu in randomized block design with four replicates in 2017 and 2018 years. Number of days to emergence, number of days to flowering, number of days to maturity, plant height, first pod height, number of branches and pods per plant, number of seeds per pod, 100 seed weight, seed yield were determined. Genotype x environment interaction was significant at 1% of probability for seed yield. According to yield stability parameters Çağatay, Sezenbey and Çakır were the most stable varieties.
