Proposal of a municipal and cadastral poligon for the municipality of Mario Briceño Iragorry
Abstract
Defining the urban perimeters that exist in municipalities undoubtedly provides for a considerable improvement in the management of territories. This is particularly true in this municipality where the disproportionate growth of population has consequently brought the loss of 22.89 hectares of the Henri Pittier National Park. In this sense, in this investigation, two polygonal proposals were made; one cadastral, adjacent to the national park, and another one of the municipal boundaries of the municipality of Mario Briceño Iragorry. This was achieved by applying the techniques and criteria for the demarcation of territorial contexts provided by the Simón Bolívar Geographical Institute of Venezuela, and through the interpretation of composed satellite images by the Google Earth program. It also included a new criterion such as that of the uniform slope line. The definition of the polygonal vertices contemplated the geometric information of the coordinates, the course of direction, and the heights above sea level for the cadastral polygon. This allowed researchers to obtain a more accurate definition of areas: national park, urban, military, adjacent municipal and parochial areas, managed under a municipal Information system. In addition, recoverable areas for the national park were identified, as well as those areas that have been invaded, which were not contemplated in the current polygonal of borders.
