New Wi-Fi technology survey after Wi-Fi6

Abstract

Wi-Fi6 standard will be major Wi-Fi technology dominated for deployment after 2020. But to support increasing bandwidth requirements and number of access devices per year, Wi-Fi technology and throughput still need to be further developed and improved. This paper will introduce the key technology involved for latest IEEE802.11be standard discussion, describing the major changes on physical and MAC layer, particularly providing the analysis for multi-access point coordination, hybrid automatic repeat request and Wi-Fi full duplex mode. Finally, this paper will introduce the granted progress of latest 6 GHz applied by both new 802.11ax version and 802.11be with related Wi-Fi function impact.
