With the advantages of good coordination and degradability, chitosan is an ideal polymeric carrier material for heterogeneous catalysts. In this paper, natural polymer chitosan was toughened and modified by blending with polyvinyl alcohol. Then, chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol thin film solid loaded palladium catalytic materials were prepared by reduction method using the excellent coordination properties of chitosan in adsorption of palladium ions. Finally, the catalytic material was applied to the Suzuki coupling reaction of halogenated benzene and phenylboronic acid. The results showed that the catalyst has good substrate tolerance, catalytic activity, and recovery performance.
