Kerman shawl weaving in Qajar era (1794-1878)
Abstract
Abstract Shawl weaving and woven wool fabrics has a long history in Kerman, as Kerman wool and shawl were the most important exported cargos before qajar era, but this industry improved in that era, as well Kerman changed in to the most important place on shawl weaving in Iran. a part of this job improvement was due to Kerman districts geographical environment, that cause to produced good quality wool and soft wool. The improvement of this job, cause to 2/3 of Kerman population work as shawl weaver and knitter that became the beginners of protests in end of qajars. The biggest problems of this big group of people were unsuitable health and life, no supporting laws, no trade and council :::::union:::::s, economical and social gap in Kerman that they reacted directly and indirectly. So carpet weaving has been flourished and replaced shawl weaving in late Qajar era. Therefore this research wanted to consider carpet, shawl weaving, the effective conditions of economical, social and political on weavers and knitters by using descriptive and analyzed method and Kerman local sources, itinerary and new works.
