The effect of various cytokinins and other factors on the protonemal celi divisions and the induction of gametophores in Ceratodon purpureus

Abstract

The cytokinins specifically induce formation of gametophore buds in the protonema of Ceratodon purpureus. The responsein this species is less sensitive than in Funaria hygrometrica, but is independent of light. The cytokinins also stimulate protonemal cell divisions, this response, however, is not specific and affected by many other factors.
