In this article background and topicality of educational audit in Ukraine are analyzed. Limitation of the received information when using the quality standards as uniform basis of audit is noted. Thereof necessity of improving the mechanism of educational audit by expansion of its methodical basis by sociological tools is accented. Results of empirical research regarding quality of educational services in Ukrainian Higher Educational Institutions are given. On the basis of the received results expediency of using sociological techniques while carrying out educational audit is proved. The attention is focused on the fact that application of international and national quality standards is crucial for an assessment and comparison of documentation and therefore is an integral component of audit. However, sociological researches as it is proved in article, allow receiving indicators which aren’t included into standards, but appear necessary for obtaining complex information on an assessment of efficient functioning of Higher Education Institution. To summarize, within the work the sociological component of educational audit of HEI at the empirical and theoretical levels is reclaimed. This allows to significantly expand the volume and quality of received information that positively influences efficiency of correcting actions on the basis of audit.
