La dictadura cívico-militar uruguaya (1973-1985): militarización de los poderes del estado, transición política y contienda de competencias
Abstract
The Uruguayan civic-military dictatorship brought the militarization of state powers through which the military regime consolidated its power and exercised total control over policy, economic and social organizations. Based on a historical reconstruction of the period we can see the organic evolution of the dictatorial government in detail. This allows us to analyze the process of the political transition and to note the negotiations and military attempts to preserve control. Which powers acquired by the government de facto returned to the civilian world and what are the challenges of the dictatorship’s political legacy thirty years later?
