Aiming at the difficulty in the application of traditional sonar technology in the measurement of horizontal salt caverns, a salt cavern shape detection method with image sonar was proposed, and the monitoring system of the detector was designed and analyzed. The monitoring system includes a ground monitoring system and an underground monitoring system with a C8051F020 controller as the core, and uses optical fiber for communication. The image sonar is loaded into the shape detector, and the detector moves in accordance with the prescribed route in the salt cavern with water injection, and the image sonar performs the detection of salt cavern. The experimental data show that the monitoring results of the monitoring system are stable and accurate, and have important application value for the detection of horizontal salt caverns.
