Vaginal defects cause immense physical and psychological stress to patients. Traditional vaginal reconstruction methods can partially restore physiological function but are often associated with long treatment periods and complications. With the advancement of tissue engineering technology, its application in vaginal reconstruction has shown significant advantages and potential in addressing female reproductive system defects. This article analyzes recent research progress in the field of tissue engineering for vaginal reconstruction, exploring the prospects of seed cells, biomaterials, signaling factors, and animal models to provide inspiration and references for clinical vaginal repair.
