Family farms in Poland according to the kind of agricultural production
Abstract
The paper presents a spatial analysis of farms according to the identified kinds of production. The basic facts were presented on the basis of survey studies (interview with questionnaire) conducted at the turn of 2007 and 2008 in four regions of Poland on a representative group of 555 family farms. The paper is a part of a wider research aiming at presentation of differences in the production potential of farms differing with kind of agricultural activity. Production and economic results obtained by family farms are defini-tively influenced by land and labour resources, outlays on production and possessed tech-nical means resulting from the pursued kinds of agricultural production. Development of farms and improvement of their economic results should be also connected among others with land consolidation processes and upgrading production quality crucial for strengthen-ing their competitiveness.
