The objective of this article is to study the costs of the upstream supply chain in the context of sargassum seaweed valorization. This is a prospective approach whose chosen methodology consists of modeling an upstream supply chain by coupling discrete event simulation with cost process valuation using the activity-based costing (ABC) method. The resulting Process Evaluation (PREVA) method is considered relevant for simultaneously evaluating the financial flows and the physical flows of a logistics process. The stranding frequencies established for the arrival of the sargassum input were associated with two hypotheses for calculating transport costs: a fixed rate and one on a tour basis. The implementation of the processes for collecting and transporting sargassum seaweed to the hypothetical valorization site provides initial results in favor of the flat-rate cost, which is generally more advantageous for all sites.
