In order to study the influence mechanism of intermediate principal stress on surrounding rock deformation of soft rock roadway, taking the soft rock transportation lane of II1053 working face of Zhuxianzhuang Mine in Huaibei Mining Area as the engineering background, based on ground stress in situ measurement, a numerical calculation model of different intermediate principal stress conditions was established by using FLAC3D software, and the effect of intermediate principal stress on the failure characteristics of soft rock roadway surrounding rock was studied. The simulation results show that the change of the intermediate principal stress makes the stress distribution, the surface displacement and the distribution of the plastic zone after the tunnel excavation show a certain stage characteristics, showing obvious “interval effect”. The field monitoring and borehole peeping results show that the model can reflect the actual situation in the field.
