Evolution of Solutions and Designs for Millimeter-Wave Antennas Compatible With Metal Exteriors of Cellular Phones

Abstract

The evolution of solutions and designs for millimeter-Wave (mm-Wave) antennas compatible with the metal exteriors of cellular phones is systematically and insightfully presented from diverse perspectives to remarkably benefit the roadmap advancement and promisingly enlighten the innovative developments. The solutions discussed in this article include the inside mm-Wave antennas with full metal exteriors, inside mm-Wave antennas with slotted metal exteriors, inside mm-Wave antennas with windowed metal exteriors, mm-Wave antennas in metal exteriors (AiME), and mm-Wave antennas in non-mm-Wave antennas integrating a package (AiAiP). Also, various designs based on the listed solutions are inspiringly analyzed and informatively classified from the dimensions of band and polarization coverage.
