ASENTAMIENTOS PREHISPÁNICOS Y PUEBLOS DE INDIOS COLONIALES SOBRE EL RÍO SALADO (SANTIAGO DEL ESTERO, ARGENTINA).MIRADAS DIALOGADAS ENTRE LA ARQUEOLOGÍA Y LA HISTORIA

Abstract

This article focuses on the indigenous societies that once habited the southern region of the middle Salado River (Santiago del Estero, Argentina) during the Spanish conquest. Thought as an interdisciplinary effort, its purpose is to interpret the information we have about the area through questions and data introduced by the archeologist, exploring some hypothesis. Among them is the possible relation between the archeological areas and the colonial ‘provinces’ in the Salado, the organization of an indigenous rebellion against the Spanish ‘conquistadores’ in the Bañados de Añatuya and the existence of a not necessarily conflicting frontier with the inhabitants of Chaco
