Traduction et offrande rituelle de la parole du Buddha en Chine

Abstract

If translating consists in transposing words from a language into another language, the activity of translation of Buddhist texts in its very beginning cannot be reduced to this mechanical form. The monks who came from foreign countries in order to translate the Buddha’s words, made the offering of the Law. Certain translators made a rite of offering, combined to fasting ceremonies. Translation notices show the possibility of an extension of the practice.
