Elimination liver metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma might improve overall survival:

Abstract

NPC with liver metastasis had poor prognosis even treated with intensive chemotherapy combined with radiotherapy but without hepatectomy. From the experience of colorectal cancer that combined hepatectomy and chemotherapy significantly prolongs survival, it is reasonable to explore whether combined hepatectomy and chemotherapy is beneficial in NPC patients with liver metastasis. In this case report, we showed 2 cases had rather long survival time after combined therapy in patients with NPC with liver metastasis.
