Shah Wali Allah of Delhi (1703-1762) has been the most influential and authoritative scholar of India who has been well recognized as the pioneer of Islamic reforms and renewal in the country who inspired almost all the schools of Islamic thought in modern India. His famous book, Hujjat Allah al-Baligha, is regarded, in Islamic literature, as the fundamental work that influenced the development of Islamic thought in the country. Islam was revealed as the religion of unity and integrity but it is not trapped by the mischievous elements who represent the communal and violent version of the religion. Shah Wali Allah of Delhi has discussed the issue of Taqlid (blind following of the religion) and varying interpretations of the Islamic text and that how the differences of opinion in the various schools of thought may be resolved through applying an intellectual approach. This paper will highlight Shah Wali Allah of Delhi's approach in this regard.
