Modern features of information and communication activities development of scientific libraries (Based on foreign professional publications)

Abstract

The main task of scientific library nowadays - constant improvement of traditional and introduction of new forms and methods of activity primarily implementation of modern information and communication technologies aimed at improving the service quality of all categories of users. The main directions of international library and information institutions development reflected in the works of foreign scientists were defined during the process of the research. Priority directions are: forming of information knowledge society, development tendencies of processes of informatization of libraries, implementation and usage of information and communication technologies in libraries, issues of global information and communications infrastructure, digitization as a tool of preserving of library stocks, information and communication activity of libraries, library staff education for the purposes of the new realities.
