Influence of a strength training program on the motor capacity of beginning basketball players

Basketball is a sport that encompasses a large motor arsenal and requires strong, agile and fast athletes. Training is part of a systematic process with the objective of having the best result for the athlete, strength training in particular requires a muscular demand and consequently a neural adaptation. The aim of this study was to analyze the effects of strength training on the specific motor skills of young basketball players. The survey included 12 players aged between 15 and 18 years old divided into two groups, control (GC) and experimental (GE), who underwent a battery of tests to assess throwing speed, passing, dribbling control, defensive movements and number of pitches. The GE presented a decrease of 9.49%, in the test of the GE pass it presented a significant increase of 4.72%, the number of pitches had an increase of 4.36% in the GE, in the speed of the pitch the CG presented a significant increase of 20, 9%, in relation to the defensive movement time, the GE had a significant decrease of 13.8%. It is concluded that strength training is beneficial for the specific motor skills of basketball players.
