A GPS (Global Positioning System) bike computer is a specialized electronic device that allows for recording the traveled trajectory and training parameters of cycling activities. Current GPS bike computer devices on the market often do not provide cycling power parameter to support the riders. This paper presents a method to efficiently estimate cycling power based on the ground speed and altitude variation of the bike. The suggested method can be applied in the design and implementation of bike computers on embedded systems. The paper also presents the design and implementation of a GPS bike computer prototype based on a System-on-Chip platform.
