E-mail: [email protected] Zinc is an essential mineral of the diet and it deficiency can happen in the dietary lack and in genetic abnormalities. Zinc deficiency is characterized for alterations in immune system, in growth and development, as well as lesions gastro-intestinal and in the skin. A male dog mixed breed, with eight years of age, was assisted at the Veterinary Hospital, presenting compatible clinical signs with that deficiency. The animal received supplementation with zinc with metionine, with total improvement of the process. The paper reports a case of zinc deficiency in a mixed breed dog.
