Background: the 50th percentile values from the Moyers table, used in Cuba, does not always correspond to the mesiodistal diameter of erupted canines and premolars, for which it is necessary to adjust the probability levels to the studied population. Objective: to determine the degree of accuracy of the 50th percentile Moyers analysis, for the prediction of the mesiodistal size of canines and premolars, in students aged 15 - 18 years with permanent dentition, belonging to the “Francisco Muñoz Rubalcava” Pre-university Institute of Las Tunas, from September 2017 to May 2020.Methods: an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out. The universe consisted of 912 students of the aforementioned institution, randomly selecting a sample of 500. The following variables were assessed: sex, skin color, lower incisor index, sum of mesiodistal widths of canines and premolars, necessary space and level of probability. Results: female sex (61,8 %) and mixed color of the skin (75,2 %) predominated. The lower incisor index on norm was present in 59,8 % of the cases. For 87 % the predictive values from Moyers 50 % did not correspond. In the female sex, the most accurate Moyers percentile values were 75 % in maxilla and 65 % in mandible, in the male sex 95 % in maxilla and 75 % in mandible. The actual values of erupted canines and premolars in both jaws corresponded to Moyers' 75 % percentile. Conclusions: the accuracy of the 50th percentile Moyers analysis in the study population was very low.
