La parodia culterana: Castillo Solórzano frente a Góngora

Abstract

The figure of Alonso de Castillo Solórzano is essential to know the development of the Baroque prose in Spain. His literary production is developed mainly in the field of the so-called short or cortesana novella, a genre that Castillo cultivated remarkably. However, the author’s concern often oversteps the “orthodoxy” of the unwritten poetic that exists regarding the novella. In this sense, the Fiestas del jardín (1634) collection proves one of the most interesting in terms of the importance granted to comedies, and also due to one of their most recurring aspects: the anticulterana parody.
